Designing a new kitchen is very exciting and a big step - whether you’re a new homeowner or remodeling your current kitchen. Selecting cabinets that reflect your personal style and melding it with functionality is an art.
At our kitchen and bath showroom, we listen to your ideas and couple them with our extensive know-how to bring your vision to life. Selecting the right cabinets is an important decision; The cabinets need to reflect your personality plus keep everything organized and uncluttered. Cabinet styles and finishes range from traditional to contemporary and define your overall kitchen design.
Your cabinets create an environment for heartfelt conversations and many wonderful and memorable gatherings. The design of your kitchen begins with cabinets from Heartwood.
Heartwood Kitchen & Bath Center offers six cabinet lines designed with maximum value in mind. Not only did we choose our cabinet lines to maximize value, we chose them to bring warmth and character to your home.
Styles, colors and finishes change over time but quality cabinet construction lasts a lifetime. Here are some elements of quality cabinet construction.
You’ll hear talk about framed or frameless construction. Framed construction starts with a wood-frame on the front edge of the cabinet. The cabinet box or carcass is fastened to this front edge. This makes for a very rigid cabinet.
Frameless construction, often called European style provides more interior space. It’s because the door and drawers attach directly to the cabinet box. This makes for a slightly less rigid cabinet but is still very effective.
Do you want a European look with framed construction? We can accomplish that by using full overlay doors to give you access to the interior with the strength of framed construction.
Cabinets that feature real wood are the ideal. Veneer covered plywood is considered a better level of cabinet. Cabinets using furniture quality particleboard covered with a stain resistant melamine are considered good quality.
Look for a cabinet box built with either 5/8” or 3/4” thick wood, plywood or furniture grade particleboard covered with stain resistant melamine. Avoid exposed particleboard at all costs.
Look for adjustable shelves that are at least 5/8” thick and hardware that is sturdy. Generally, door hinges are adjustable to allow the installer to square and level the doors on the frame or within the frame.
Dovetail joinery is the best method for joining corners together. Look for this feature in the construction of your cabinet drawers. Stay away from stapled particleboard corners, as they are a disaster waiting to happen.
Side-mounted drawer slides tend to be a little stronger than slides centered underneath the drawer. Yet, centered slides are becoming more popular
and compete well with side-mounted slides for strength. Be sure slide stops are solid and look for nylon bearings because they are quieter.
